News of the week

If payments on securities are credited to S-type accounts of a foreign nominee holder or paying agent before the decree enters into force, residents and companies controlled by them have the right to receive payments due to them on securities from S-type accounts. The procedure also applies to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the International Bank for Economic Cooperation, the International Investment Bank, the New Development Bank, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

If the securities were acquired after March 1, 2022, their owners must not include persons from unfriendly countries.

It's about payments:

• for shares of Russian companies, federal loan bonds and bonds of Russian issuers, collective safe custody of which is carried out by the Russian depository;
• for securities certifying rights to Russian shares (secondary shares);
• on Eurobonds with which the obligations of a Russian legal entity are related.

• Direction of the Bank of Russia No. 6663-U of January 9, 2024 on amending Instructions of the Bank of Russia No. 181-I of August 16, 2017 - Exchange control rules for foreign trade contracts have been relaxed for Russian companies.
